It's Country with a kick and a black wardrobe. Some call it Death Western, some call it Hellbilly Punk, we'll let you make up your own minds because we have no idea.
Lady Winwoods Maggot have been together for many years, performed at festivals such as Glastonbury, as well as several of the smaller south coast festivals such as the Wimborne Folk Festival and The Great Dorset Steam Fair, at which they have headlined the weekend slots in the folk tent to a crowd of around 2000 people for ten years. They have self organised and funded a tour of New Zealand and supported acts such as Shane MacGowan and the Alabama 3.
Their music fuses traditional American and Irish music with self-written songs and presents them with an old-school punk attitude. Banjo, Mandolin and Acoustic Guitar are backed with thunderous Drums and Bass. Throw in some Electric Guitar and you have what some may describe as the sound of Johnny Cash shagging The Clash on Elvis' couch.
